The Family Deeds Project provides a
large amount of FREE online information to help you with your family history
using information contained in our collection of old deeds and documents. The project was started when so many
old deeds and documents were coming onto the open market and being sold to many
different locations. This meant that the
valuable information contained in them became very hard to find.  I wanted to provide somewhere where
information contained in as many documents as possible could be made readily
available. These documents can contain a wealth
of information for family historians and so the Family Deeds project, using
this website was created with the aim of trying to preserve some of that
information and make it easily available to all. Unfortunately, the deeds are very expensive
to buy and, although I would dearly love to be able to donate each and every
one of them to the appropriate Records Office, the project is personally funded
and has so far cost thousands of pounds.
Therefore the documents have to be sold in order to fund the purchase of
new ones and in turn provide more information for you on this website. Whilst in the possession of Family
Deeds all of the documents are transcribed in full and I hope that at least by
passing through our hands, the information in them is preserved and as much of
that as possible is provided on this free to view website. If you are researching your family
history, rather than local history, I would recommend you try the Names Index
first as many people are mentioned in documents for parishes and counties other
than that of their abode. I hope you find something to help you
with your quest, but this is a long-term project so if there is nothing this
week then please try again soon............ Pat Johnson PLEASE NOTE that whilst every effort is made to provide an accurate account of the information contained in the deeds, we cannot be held
responsible for any inaccuracies or errors, typographical or otherwise and as always with this type of information it should be used as a guide to help you
with your research and any information should be clarified by other means wherever possible, nor can we be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies
contained in the deeds themselves. We are therefore unable to provide any warranty as to the accuracy of the information provided. |
