DATED 23 JULY 1813

Indenture being a Lease for a year of two cottages or dwellinghouses situate in
Luddenden in the township of Midgeley in the County of Yorkshire dated 23 July
1813, Mr Robert Walton to Mr Edward Wilkinson

This Indenture made the twenty third day of July
in the fifty third year of the Reign of King George the third and in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen Between Robert
Walton of Lane End in Crompton in the county of Lancaster weaver devisee in
fee of the cottages and tenements hereinafter hereby bargained and sold in
and under the last Will and Testament of Richard Walton late of Luddenden in
the parish of Halifax aforesaid Dyer deceased of the one part and Edward
Wilkinson of Midgeley in the parish of Halifax in the county of York shopkeeper
of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum
of five shillings of lawful money of Great Britain to the said Robert Walton
party hereto now in hand well and truly paid on or before the sealing and
delivery of these presents The receipt of which sum is hereby acknowledged He
the said Robert Walton Hath bargained and sold And by these presents
Doth bargain and sell unto the said Edward Wilkinson his executors
administrators and assigns All that cottage dwellinghouse or tenement
situate and standing in Luddenden in the township of Midgeley aforesaid
wherein Joseph Binns lately dwelled but now in the occupation of Benjamin
Haigh Together with the Midding Stead to the same belonging or occupied
therewith And also All that cottage or dwellinghouse situate in
Luddenden aforesaid underneath the two chambers wherein the said Richard
Walton dwelt at the time of making his Will (but not the said two chambers
which were by the said Will devised to Richard Walton a son of the said
testator in fee) And all the rights privileges and appurtenances thereunto
belonging To have and to hold the said cottages or tenements and
hereditaments and all and singular other the premises hereby or mentioned or
intended to be hereby bargained and sold with their and every of their
appurtenances unto the said Edward Wilkinson his executors administrators and
assigns from the day next before the day of the date of these presents for
and during the full term of one whole year thence next ensuing and fully to
be complete and ended Yielding and paying therefore at the end of the
said term unto the said Robert Walton his heirs or assigns the rent of a
White Rose if legally demanded To the intent and purpose that by
virtue of these presents and by force of the statute made for transferring
uses into possession He the said Edward Wilkinson may be in the actual
possession of the premises hereby bargained and sold and thereby be enabled
to accept and take a Grant and Release of the Reversion Freehold and
Inheritance thereof unto and to the use of him and his heirs and assigns as
is expressed and declared of and concerning the same in and by an Indenture
already prepared and intended to bear date the day next after the day of the
date hereof made between the said Robert Walton and Martha his wife of the
one part And the said Edward Wilkinson of the other part In witness
whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and
seals the day and year first above written
