AGREEMENT DATED 3 NOVEMBER 1878

 

A paper document being an Agreement dated 3 November 1878 between Clement Robey and John Booth Knight reading as follows:-

 

Memorandum that it is agreed this third day of November 1873 Between Clement Robey of Sunny Bank near Newcastle Under Lyme in the County of Stafford General Agent on the one part and John Booth Knight of Longsdon near Leek in the said County Farmer on the other part as follows that is to say

The said Clement Robey agrees to sell to the said John Booth Knight and the said John Booth Knight agrees to purchase All that plot of Land Copyhold of the Manor of Newcastle under Lyme situate in Wolstanton within this manor with the messuage or dwellinghouse thereon erected and known by the name of Sunny Bank with the outbuildings and appurtenances to the same belonging (with the exception of the wardrobe in the front bedroom) as now in the occupation of the said Clement Robey for the sum of One thousand nine hundred and Twenty five pounds (of which Twenty five pounds has been paid by the way of deposit at or before the execution hereof and the residue) to be paid as hereinafter mentioned

And the said Clement Robey hereby agrees that he will make a proper surrender of the said premises on or before the first day of June next and will also in the meantime if required furnish at the cost and expense of the said John Booth Knight an abstract of his Title to the same

And the said John Booth Knight agrees that he will pay to the said Clement Robey the sum of One thousand nine hundred pounds the residue of the said purchase money on the said first day of December next or as much sooner as he the said John Booth Knight shall enter into possession of the said premises
