WALFORD, HEREFORDSHIRE


LEASE DATED 28 SEPTEMBER 1825

 

A vellum Indenture being a Lease for a year of a piece or parcel of arable land and orcharding called Duggans in the parish of Walford in the County of Hereford dated 28 September 1825, Mr William Cary Cocks to Mr Richard Tippin’s Trustee reading as follows:

 This Indenture made the twenty eighth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five Between William Cary Cocks of the town of Ross in the county of Hereford apothecary of the one part and Thomas Edwards of the town of Ross in the said county of Hereford gentleman of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Cary Cocks in consideration of five shillings of lawful British money to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Edwards at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath bargained and sold and by these presents Doth bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Edwards his executors administrators and assigns All that piece or parcel of arable land and orcharding called Duggans containing by estimation two acres or thereabouts (be the same more or less) adjoining to lands belonging to William Duggan and to the new Chapel there formerly in the possession of Mr John Whiting and now of Edward Witherstone as tenant thereof and situate at Bishops Wood in the said parish of Walford Together with all ways waters watercourses Commons liberties privileges profits commodities and advantages whatsoever to the said parcel of land and hereditaments belonging or in any wise appertaining And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders yearly and other rents issues and profits of and in the same To have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land and hereditaments hereby bargained and sold and every part thereof with the appurtenances unto the said Thomas Edwards his executors administrators and assigns from the day next before the day of the date of these presents unto the end and for and during the full term of one whole year thence next ensuing and fully to be compleat and ended Yielding and paying the rent of one peppercorn on the last day of the said term if the same shall be lawfully demanded To the intent and purpose nevertheless that by virtue of these presents and the statute made for transferring uses into possession the said Thomas Edwards may be in the actual possession of the said premises and may thereby be enabled to accept and take a Grant and Release of the freehold Reversion and Inheritance thereof to him and his heirs To and for such uses Upon such Trusts and for such intents and purposes as in and by a certain Indenture of Release already prepared and intended to bear date the day next after the day of the date of these presents are limited expressed and declared of and concerning the same and to and for no other use end intent or purpose whatsoever In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
