A Memorandum of Agreement (on paper)
dated 1
March 1721 between Bennett Delahay and John
Maddocks reading as follows:

Memoranded it is agreed by and between Bennett Delahay Gent of the one part
and John Maddocks Gent of the other part as followeth (vizt)
….. the said Bennett Delahay for the considerations hereafter
mentioned doth hereby promise and agree to and with the said John Maddocks
that he the said Bennett Delahay and Catherine his wife theire heires
or assignes shall and will at or before the feast of the Nativity of St John
the Baptist next ensuing by good and sufficient conveyances and assurances in
the Law Convey and Assure unto the said John Maddocks his heires and assignes
forever All that his Messuage and lands with the appurtenances situate in the
Towne Shippes of Longtowne and Llanveyno in the County of Hereford late in
the possession of Margery Price Widdow and now in the possession of David
Price of Longtowne in the said County Shopkeeper free from all manner of
incumbrances whatsoever (excepting one Annuity or rent charge of Eight Pounds
granted out of the said estate in pursuance to ye last Will of Oliver
Maddocks Gent decd)
….. the said John Maddocks in consideration of the said
premises doth hereby promise and agree to and with the said Bennett Delahay
his executors and assignes that he the said John Maddocks his heires
executors or assignes shall and will at or upon the execution of such
conveyances or assurances well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the
said Bennett Delahay his executors or assignes the sume of Two Hundred and
Twenty pounds of lawfull money of Greate Brittaine in manner following (that
is to say) He the said John Maddocks
his heires executors or assignes shall and will at or upon the execution of
such conveyances grant and assign unto the said Bennett Delahay his executors
or assignes or to such other person or persons whom he or they shall nominate
and appoint one mortgage made and granted by William Harrys of
Llanthewy-Rytherch in the County of Monmouth to the said Oliver Maddocks for
forwarding the sume of One Hundred Pounds principal money and interest in …..
of the consideration money above mentioned And also shall and will seale and
execute unto the sd Bennett Delahay his executors or assignes one Bond or
Obligation of the penalty of Eighty Pounds conditioned for the payment of
Forty Pounds and interest at or upon the feast of the Nativity of our blessed
Lord and Saviour then next ensuing And all for one other bond or obligation
of the penalty of One Hundred and Twenty Pounds conditioned for the payment
of Sixty Pounds and interest at or upon the said Feast of the Nativity of St
John the Baptist which shall be in the year of our Lord God 1723 in further
….. of the said consideration money And also shall and will deliver up to be
cancelled to the said Bennett Delahay his executors or assigns one promissory
note given by the said Bennett Delahay to the said John Maddocks for securing
the payment of Twenty Pounds principal money and interest for the residue and
remainder and in full satisfaction of the said consideration money In Witness where both the said partys have
herunto sett theire hands this first day of March Ao D d 1721
