MATHON,
CRADLEY etc, HEREFORDSHIRE
RELEASE
DATED 13 JULY 1853
(Concerning the Will of Martha Gardiner)
A vellum Indenture being a Release
dated 13 July 1853, Mr Jauncey and others to Messrs Bennett, Gwilliam and others.
This document relates to the
distribution of the estate of Martha Gardiner of Bishops Frome, Herefordshire.
When Martha died in 1846, as her daughter had pre-deceased her, the estate was
to be divided into eight parts between her seven sisters and one brother who
were Elizabeth Jauncey, Mary Bishop, Jane Oakey, Ann Bishop, Catherine Bennett,
Sarah Gibbs, Susan Godfrey and Richard Brewer.
However, Elizabeth Jauncey had
predeceased her, so Elizabeth’s share was further divided between her ten children, although
one of those, Martha White, had already died so her share went to her husband.
Ann Bishop had also pre-deceased Martha Gardiner, so her share was divided
between her three children.
