John Prince

This is the Last Will and Testament of me John
Prince now or late Captain in His Majesty's First or Royal Regiment of
Dragoon Guards now residing in Dorchester in the county of Dorset made and
published this twenty third day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and seventy nine Imprimis my Will is that my debts and funeral
expenses be first paid and discharged and after payment thereof my Will is
that the remaining part of my personal estate shall be divided into six equal
parts or shares and one sixth part thereof I give and bequeath unto my
daughter Sarah Prince and one other sixth part thereof I give to my daughter
Mary Prince and the remaining fourth parts thereof my Will is shall be placed
out at interest by my executor hereinafter named on Government or other
securities In Trust that he do pay the interest and produce of one fourth
part thereof unto my wife Mary Prince for and during the term of her natural
life and the interest and produce of the other three parts thereof my Will is
shall be paid and applied to and for the maintenance and education of my
three children Thomas Prince James Walcup Prince and Anna Maria Prince and
three of the said fourth parts of the said principal sum I give and bequeath
unto my said three children Thomas Prince James Walcup Prince and Anna Maria
Prince equally to be divided between them share and share alike and the other
fourth part of the principal money after the death of my said wife I do give
and bequeath unto my said five children Sarah Mary Thomas James Walcup and
Anna Maria equally to be divided between them share and share alike and in
case my said two sons Thomas and James Walcup or either of them shall be
desirous to go into the army then my Will is and I do desire my said executor
to purchase a commission in the army for such of them as shall desire the
same and pay the purchase money for such commission or commissions out of the
shares of the principal money of him or them so applying for the same but in
case no application shall be made by them or either of them to my said
executor for that purpose then my Will is that the several shares of my said
three children Thomas James Walcup and Anne Marie shall not be paid them
respectively until they shall attain their respective ages of twenty one
years and in case any or either of the said three children Thomas James
Walcup and Anna Maria shall happen to die before his her or their shares
shall become payable then the share of him her or them so dying shall be paid
unto the survivors or survivor of them equally share and share alike and in
case all my said three children Thomas James Walcup and Anna Maria shall
happen to die before they shall have attained their respective ages of twenty
one years or being placed in the army as aforesaid then my Will is and I do
give their respective shares unto my son John Prince and to my daughters
Sarah and Mary equally to be divided between them share and share alike but
my Will further is notwithstanding the bequeaths made as aforesaid unto my
said three children Thomas James Walcup and Anna Maria I do direct that one
hundred pounds part of each of their shares so given to them as aforesaid
shall not be paid them until after the death of my said wife Mary Prince but
shall remain at interest and the interest and produce arising therefrom shall
from time to time be paid unto my said wife for her better support and
maintenance for and during the term of her natural life and from and after
her decease then my Will is that the said principal sums shall be paid unto
each of them and not before And I do make Major General Robert Sloper Executor
in Trust as aforesaid of this my Will In witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal the day and year aforesaid

Frederick by Divine Providence Archbishop of
Canterbury, Primate of All England, and Metropolitan, do by these presents
make known to all men, that on the seventeenth day of June in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine at London, before the
worshipful Thomas Bever Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful
Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws, Master, Keeper, or Commissary of Our
Prerogative Court of Canterbury, lawfully constituted the last Will and
Testament of John Prince late of Dorchester in the county of Dorset and a
Captain in His Majesty's First or Royal Regiment of Dragoon Guards Esquire
deceased hereunto annexed, was proved, approved and registered; the said
deceased having whilst living, and at the time of his death, goods, chattels
or credits, in divers dioceses or jurisdictions, by reason whereof the
proving and registering the said will, and the granting Administration of all
and singular the said goods, chattels and credits, and also the auditing,
allowing and final discharging the account thereof, are well known to
appertain only and wholly to us, and not to any inferior judge; and that
Administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the
said deceased, and anyway concerning his will was granted to Robert Sloper
Esquire the sole Executor named in the said Will he having been already sworn
well and faithfully to administer the same, and to make a true and perfect
Inventory of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits, and to
exhibit the same into the Registry of our said Court on or before the last
day of December next ensuing, and also to render a just and true Accompt
thereof Given at the time and place above written and in the eleventh year of
our translation
