ADMISSION TO CURACY DATED 10 APRIL 1780

 

A vellum document being an Admission of William Pye to the Rectory of the Parish Church of Blisland in the County of Cornwall by the Bishop of Exeter dated 10 April 1780 reading as follows:

Of William Pye

To the Rectory of the Parish Church of Blisland

In the County of Cornwall

 

By the Bishop of Exeter

 

To all Christian People to whom these Presents may come or in any wise concern John by Divine permission Bishop of Exeter sendeth Greeting.  Be it known unto you that on the day of the date hereof William Pye clerk BA being admitted and instituted to the Rectory of the Parish Church of Blisland alias Bliston in the county of Cornwall within our Diocese and Jurisdiction did before his Admission thereto personally appear before us and subscribe to the thirty nine Articles of the Church of England agreed upon in the Convocation holden at London in the year of our Lord 1562, and to the three Articles in the thirty sixth of the Ecclesiastical Canons published in the year of our Lord 1604, and to all things that are contained in them; And at the same time did on the holy Evangelists swear that he would be faithful and bear true Allegiance to his Majesty King George the Third and that he renounced all foreign Jurisdiction Power Superiority Preheminence or Authority Ecclesiastical or Spiritual within this Realm pursuant to an Act of Parliament made and published to that effect; And farther that he had not directly or indirectly obtained or procured the said Rectory by any simoniacal payment or contract whatsoever; And that he would pay true and canonical obedience to Us and Our Successors Bishops of Exeter in all things lawful and honest

In Testimony whereof, We have caused Our Seal to be hereunto affixed.  Dated the tenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty and of Our Consecration the third
